Perhaps surprisingly the house is often used as a 10 Downing
Street location because of the similarity between the entrance
halls, and our drawing room and the cabinet room in Downing
Street. We don’t have a black front door though. The Tarzan
scenes in the Downing Street Cabinet room are shot here.
Here’s a longer list of films shot at Gaddesden Place.
Set in the rolling countryside of the edge of Chiltern hills north of
London, it has views over Gade valley.
We have hosted film production from the smallest to the largest
(the Warner Brother’s Tarzan movie had more than 200 crew and
cast).
Gaddesden Place is set within the larger Gaddesden Estate which
offers additional filming support and locations including rolling
countryside landscapes, woodland, farms and stables. We
regularly cooperate with the Gaddesden Estate, for instance
housing any larger Unit Base on a nearby farm. The Gaddesden
Place stables is now home to The Stampede Stunt Company who
provide trained horses for film and photo shoots.
